Snoloha Again Named to Startup Nation s Top Home-Based Business List
Snoloha, a brand of recreational clothing produced here in Traverse City, Michigan, has been recognized by Startup Nation as one of the top 10 businesses in its annual Home-Based 100 competition, Most Slacker Friendly category.

TRAVERSE CITY, MI, November 27, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The thousands of entries for the annual nationwide contest were judged according to 10 different categories, from the wackiest or greenest, to the most innovative and best financial performers. Last year, Snoloha won the Most Slacker Friendly category, in the first annual 100 ranking of the country s leading home-based businesses.

Being recognized for the second consecutive year, as well as getting the most votes in one of the contest s categories, is a great honor and very exciting, remarked Rod Call, Snoloha founder and entrepreneur.

In business for just two years, Snoloha apparel parrots the relaxed, hanging-out sort of lifestyle found in the islands and snowbelt. Rod founded his enterprise after working for 10 years in the recreational clothing retail industry.

Today, his line of shirts, hoodies, and accessories cater to people who are fond of hanging out on the beach or hitting the ski slopes, and those who just wish they were. Snoloha s motto is: A lifestyle shared by those who live, play, travel, vacation, relax, or simply enjoy life somewhere between the islands and the arctic.

The Snoloha brand is currently available at a variety of boutique stores in Michigan and beyond. Recently the company negotiated a distribution agreement with a European firm.

Startup Nation staff noted that their 2008 ranking shows that home-based business is more relevant than ever. The current economic climate has spurred a new wave of home-based business as a response to job loss, the need for extra income and the sheer passion of taking the path less traveled and running your own business, noted Rich Sloan, co-founder of Startup Nation, one of the leading small business networking and advice sites.
Historically some of today s most well known businesses started in a downturn, including Microsoft and General Electric.

Besides Startup Nation staffers, judges for this year s contest were Adam Lowry, co-founder of Method Products; Howard Behar, former president of Starbuck s North America; John Jantsch, founder of Duck Tape Marketing; and Mel Robbins, host of Make It Happen radio show.
